About Me

Miniature-Airport-OvidioHello everyone, and welcome to my blog. My name is Ovidio DeJesús, and I love airplanes! On this blog I will be talking about my love for airplanes, focusing on my latest passion, model airports.

Since I was a little kid, I remember going to the airport and running upstairs to the Observation Deck to watch planes take off and land. Flying has always fascinated me. My first time on an airplane was at six months old (my Mom tells me), and I have been in love with flying ever since. I have looked into taking flying lessons, but I could not afford the price and the time required for studying. So I guess, for now, I will have to enjoy flying as a passenger.

Throughout the years I have built my share of model airplanes, but about 5 years ago I started my collection of die-cast airplanes. I started with Schaubach 1:600s, but soon moved to 1:500s and 1:400s. Once I had enough airplanes (my collection today is over 1,000 airplanes), I started looking into ways to display them. I tried curio cabinets, but then I thought that the best way to display the planes was on an airport!! This is how my journey began.

    Hi Ovidio,

…my first thought – wow, magic, great, fab etc.
My congratulations on some wonderful airports.

My son and I have just started collecting 1:500 aircraft and are in the process of putting together an airport to ‘show off’ the aircraft.
I would be grateful for any advice (details on aiport markings (colours/ apron/ taxiways/ etc.) you my have.

Look forward to hearing from you,
    Kind regards,
    Paul.
