New Custom Airport Tiles available for 1:400 scale

Happy New Year to everyone,

After several requests from customers, I have added a new offering to the 1:400 product line, a Custom Airport Diorama.

Instead of the pre-formatted 4 by 8 airport, this is a collection of tiles to create your own custom airport, any size or configuration  you want. There are tiles for airplane pads, buildings, grassy areas, lines, runways (make them any size you want), taxiways, etc.

What you would do is print all the pieces you need, and arrange them in any way you want to create your own custom airport.

New Gemini Model Airports

It has been a while since my last post, but I have been busy with the new website.  I have just added some new designs, including new backgrounds.  The backgrounds give the airports great realism.

The two new model airport designs are based on the Gemini terminal building.  The first one has the building alone with a cargo complex, and fuel depot.  The second design has a complementary Main Terminal which completes the airport.  You can check them out at Model Airport Building Terminal – Gemini.

Here are some pics of the first design:

Airport Evolution

Airport #1

About five years ago, I started my collection of die-cast airplanes. I started collecting the Schabak 1:600s. I liked the small scale, but the quality was horrible. I became a regular customer at the Smithsonian store in the BWI (Baltimore-Washington International) Airport, where I picked through the boxes for the best quality planes.

Once I had enough planes, I decided to build an airport to display them. Fortunately, I had a big basement that afforded me the space.

Welcome to my Blog!

Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog. My name is Ovidio DeJesús, and I love airplanes! On this blog I will be talking about my love for airplanes, focusing on my latest passion, model airports.

Since I was a little kid, I remember going to the airport and running upstairs to the Observation Deck to watch planes take off and land. Flying has always fascinated me. My first time on an airplane was at six months old (my Mom tells me), and I have been in love with flying ever since. I have looked into taking flying lessons, but I could not afford the price and the time required for studying. So I guess, for now, I will have to enjoy flying as a passenger.
